About the Role
This is a critical role focused on fostering a safety-first culture and ensuriong compliance with WHS standards and legislation.
We are seeking a tertiary qualified WHS & IM Manager with experience in Agriculture / Horticulture.
Simpson Farms has three plantations in the Childers / Cordalba area, a large, sophisticated Avocado and Mango packing shed as well as a state of the art Processing plant in Bundaberg.
The WHS & IM Manager is responsible for enabling safety outcomes across the business. The main office is located at Goodwood East farm near the small beachside community of Woodgate. In peak season there is approximately 300 permanent and casual workers.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead the development, implementation, and enhancement of the WHS Management System, ensuring alignment with ISO 45001 and AS 4801 standards.
- Cultivate a 'safety first and always' environment by providing leadership, strategy, and hands-on WHS guidance to management and staff.
- Engage in effective WHS consultation, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant WHS legislation.
- Develop, monitor, and integrate WHS operational plans and practices into daily operations, while ensuring all personnel receive appropriate WHS training.
- Provide support for hazard management, conduct risk assessments, and maintain accurate and compliant WHS records.
- Regularly measure and evaluate WHS performance, coordinate audits, and implement improvements based on feedback and analysis.
- Manage emergency response and Injury Management protocols, maintaining readiness for emergencies and overseeing return-to-work processes.
- Lead the development and implementaiton of an early intervention and wellness program.
Your Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate has a minimum five years' experience in a similar role within the Farming / Rural industry. You'll be equipped with relevant qualifications and have an extensive knowledge of current legislation and codes of practice.
A great communicator who can work well with people of all backgrounds, to be considered for the role, it's important you can address the following:
- Degree in Workplace Health and Safety or equivalent qualification in relevant field.
- Demonstrated expertise in the Workers Compensation legislation and associated processes.
- Demonstrated expertise in the development and management of contemporary health, safety, and workers’ compensation/Injury Management and wellness strategies.
- Current knowledge of Workers Compensation claims management systems and best practice concepts and demonstrated Return to Work management experience.
- Experience working with professionals such as treating practitioners, medical specialists, allied health staff, WorkSafe and Insurance agents.
- Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes.
- Project management skills.
- Experience managing a broad range of Injury Management and WHS issues.
- Ability to work autonomously and within in team environment
- Excellent communication skills, self-motivated and well organised
- Computer skills including Microsoft suite
