Mackay Regional Council is seeking a dedicated Works on Roads Officer with a background in Civil Engineering or experience in Minor Works Permit processing, Roads, and Drainage design/construction and assessment. This permanent full-time role is based at our Main Council Office in the Mackay CBD.
You will be tasked with investigating issues, ensuring adherence to standards, and addressing complaints related to the Council's civil infrastructure and road reserves. This involves overseeing works conducted by external statutory bodies, authorised installers, and internal Council Departments.
The role also covers Minor Works Applications, including:
- Invert Crossing and Concrete Driveway installations
- Stormwater Connections
- Rural Access Construction
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and resolve issues from residents about the restoration of roads and drainage works, working with external bodies, authorised installers, and internal Council Departments. This could involve telecommunications and electricity service providers.
- Manage the processing, inspection, and certification of all works under Minor Works Applications.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to exchange technical information as needed.
Essential Criteria:
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in roads and drainage design, construction, and assessment.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet tools, and Council's electronic records software.
- Previous experience in public engagement or dispute resolution is advantageous.
- Current QLD 'C' Class driver's licence.
- General Construction Safety White Card.
- Certificate IV in Civil Construction.
- Traffic Control Ticket.
- Traffic Management Level 2 and Level 3 Accreditation.
- A Diploma in Civil Engineering would be highly beneficial.
