In this role, you'll:
perform checks and you will record and report on issues impacting the network. The role may also conduct surveillance to support works delivery. The role may be required to carry out duties of a Road Worker Grade 3 as required.
The Works Assistant Grade 3Asset Inspector will also be responsible for:
Performing a wide range of routine and complex labouring/manual tasks, including using a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools to assist with the completion of work activities. Work is completed under limited supervision and may be done independently in a team environment.
Solving routine problems that arise, refer to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborating with supervisors and managers to resolve complex issues to minimise risks and achieve work goals.
Providing guidance to team members, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability and ensuring team tasks are completed effectively.
Participating in team meetings, planning and activities to support continuous improvement and achieve work goals.
Understanding and maintaining knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, records management and industry requirements to minimise risk and model safe work behaviour.
This is an ongoing full-time role located at Bowenfels.
About you
- You have proven experience operating at a Road Worker Grade 3 level or industry equivalent (refer to Role Description).
- You must hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence. A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence would be viewed favourably.
- You have a sound understanding of road systems and networks along with knowledge of road maintenance construction and associated infrastructure. Whilst not essential, a strong technical understanding of TfNSW quality specifications will be highly regarded.
- You possess good literacy and numeracy skills and are able to communicate effectively with members of the work team.
- You have proven experience working independently and you have excellent attention to detail.
- You are confident and have a keen interest and aptitude with all things tech and you are confident in operating and adapting to various databases and systems. You are passionate about innovation and are proactively engaged in the rolling out of any new initiatives.
- You must also have a willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed.
- You may be required to work outside of normal working hours on occasion, and you may be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home on occasion.
TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a reasonable distance from the Bowenfels Depot.
