As apart of a recent restructure within our Workshop team, we are now looking for a Workshop Team Leader to ensure all plant, vehicles and equipment are serviced and maintained to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime of plant through preventative and reactive maintenance. Key Accountabilities: Asset Maintenance Ensure the day to day operation of the Fleet Workshop and repairs and infield servicing is undertaken effectively and safely. Ensure that the schedule of annual RTA inspections and RFS servicing is undertaken given consideration to WHS issues, operational needs and maintenance requirements.
To achieve scheduled servicing requirements, repairs and maintenance to Council plant, vehicles and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's specifications, industry standards and safe work method statements. Apply problem solving techniques by applying standards, established practices and procedures, or operating instructions. Attend after-hours call out duty (on-call roster) / overtime when required.
Participate and contribute to an effective and productive team. To provide support to other Council workshop locations as directed. Provide technical support to all team members as required.
Be responsible for the proper care and operations of any plant or machinery placed under the responsibility of, or allocated for repair to, the position holder. Ensure that high quality standards of workmanship are maintained. Workshop Administration and Communication Leadership and supervision of small teams of tradesmen and/or contractors and/or apprentices performing workshop related tasks.
Ensure on the job training of apprentice plant mechanics to assist their understanding and development and to facilitate their achievement of trade qualifications. Provide information to Fleet Coordinator and/or Fleet Admin on the progress of work tasks to ensure a high level of service, limited downtime and maintaining quality assurance. Complete relevant paperwork and provide input into the Fleet Management Software and other workshop databases.
Model behaviours that reinforce open and honest communication with stakeholders and peers. Project and promote the image of Council as being efficient, courteous and customer based focus. Conduct staff performance appraisals and address any performance issues effectively and in a timely manner.
To actively promote and demonstrate the core values and behavioural requirements of the Workplace Environment Statement. Selection Criteria: Demonstrated experience leading small teams in a mechanical workshop environment. Certificate III – Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport) or equivalent.
MVRIC Licence (Motor Mechanic). Class C Driver’s Licence. Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the servicing, maintenance and repair of a wide range of plant, vehicle and equipment systems.
Efficient skills in fault diagnosis and repairs to plant, vehicle and equipment systems. Effective oral and written communication skills, including records keeping. Ability to identify and satisfy customer’s needs – both internal and external customers.
