Your future role
We currently have several opportunities available to join the team at the Wulkuraka Maintenance Facility, as a shift Yard Master. In this role you will provide support to the Shift Superintendent, directing and supervising the movements of Multiple Units (MU’s) into, out of, and within the bounds of the Wulkuraka Maintenance Facility ensuring that all movements are safely & effectively controlled (road and rail inclusive) and safe marshalling is performed throughout the facility in accordance with company processes and Rail Safety regulations.
We’ll look to you for:

  • Coordinating all yard movements, including liaison with the Maintenance team and Operator’s staff to ensure appropriate stabling of MU’s.
  • Being the first point of contact for inbound and outbound rail traffic with the Operator.
  • Recording all yard movements and events.
  • Delivering relevant training, both initial and refresher for staff involved in MU movements, Shunter operations and yard safe working practices.
  • Conducting regular audits of the process ensure validity and clarity, and build processes that ensures the continual improvement of MU movements.
  • Liaising with the Shift Superintendents to plan locations for preventive and corrective work on the MU’s and on the Depot Assets.
  • Establishing and/or maintaining records of presentation and vehicle movements, the staff engaged and the quality/non-compliance as necessary.
  • Using the computer management system to complete all data entry for MU status changes in respect of stabling and availability for service.
  • Carrying out support work on the MU’s, or Depot Assets as appropriate.
