Yardman / Operator

Our Opportunity 

Due to ongoing growth and contract works being awarded NEPEAN Conveyors is currently seeking a Yardman/Forklift Operator. These roles available are supported by our strong team based in Mackay, Slade Point. This position is responsible for safely operating the Forklift, picking, and packing stock as per customer order specifications, ensuring orders are correct and safely loaded and unloaded onto trucks and assisting the tradespeople on the maintenance of equipment.

Overview of role

• Receive incoming goods and check for damage and for any discrepancies between goods and invoices.
• Load and unload items from the truck and ensure all documents are correct.
• Unload containers into the designated storage area.
• Manual Handling and other warehouse duties as required.
• Manage minimum and maximum consumable levels.
• Manage inventory (cycle counts quarterly and ensure that part numbers are relevant and maintained in stock location in the store).
• Assembly and disassembly of all capital and used underground mining material s handling equipment, gearboxes, driveline equipment, winching equipment, hydraulic power packs and hydraulic driven equipment and all work functions related therein.
• Maintenance of onsite fixed and mobile plant, including the completion of the appropriate paperwork.
• Minor painting, steam/high-pressure water cleaning and ancillary duties.
• Ensure that all steel is marked with the job number clearly and correctly.
• Operate a forklift and overhead cranes in a safe manner

The Right Person

• The ability to demonstrate a strong safety focus
• The ability to get yourself to and from work
• Team player attitude with the ability to handle complexities within the role
• Solid communication skills
• School Certificate or equivalent preferred
• Current driver’s licence
• High-Risk Forklift Licence 
• Minimum of 5 + years’ experience operating a forklift.
• Previous stores experience within mining, manufacturing, or materials handling organisation.
