Overview
The Nurse Manager Infection Prevention and Control (IP&C) is the clinical lead for Yorke and Northern Local Health Network (YNLHN) and has responsibility for ensuring strategies are implemented to prevent avoidable healthcare associated infections (HAIs) at all levels in YNLHN.
The role is responsible for ensuring that IP&C systems are in place, policies and procedures are current and address relevant standards and legislation, risks are identified and mitigated, and measures of compliance and clinical outcomes are achieved through audit programs, surveillance data, competency assessment and benchmarking programs. In this role, you will be classified, at this level, as an expert within this area and stream of practice and have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making.
The Nurse Manager IP&C provides leadership and management of the IP&C Team and is the Executive Officer for the IP&C Committee.
Various practice models may be used to enact this role, including but not limited to:
Providing IP&C clinical leadership to nurses/midwives at sites within YNLHN
Coordination and leadership of projects and/or programs that contribute clinical expertise to improve patient/client/service outcomes in relation to IP&C
