Upper Hunter Youth Services Inc., located in Muswellbrook, NSW is a community based organisation funded by Department of Communities and Justice servicing the Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter and Singleton Shires. We are currently seeking passionate and skilled Youth Activities Workers on a casual “call-in” basis at our Youth Centre which is based in Muswellbrook. The role is to assist in building a strong Muswellbrook Youth Centre by ensuring recreational and social needs of the young people of the Muswellbrook district are met by keeping them well informed, resourced and connected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and interact with young people attending activities at our Youth Centre, based in Muswellbrook, and to encourage participation in Youth Centre activities.
- Implement activities and programs in partnership with our Senior Youth Worker.
- Ensure that youth services are provided on the basis of equality, regardless of a person’s gender, ethnic background, religion, Aboriginality or disability.
- Establish and maintain good workplace relationships and ensure good communication.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in youth, welfare work.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and work with young people aged 10-18 years.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of issues confronting young people particularly in our Service area.
- Experience in working in a team to deliver activities and programs to young people.
- Ability to work afternoon hours and school holidays.
- Good communication skills both written and verbal.
- Current Full Driver’s License
- Understanding and commitment to Work Health & Safety principles and guidelines.
- Computer Literacy in Outlook, Word, Excel.
- First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain
- Current Working with Children’s Check and National Police Check
