Hays are working with a leading for-purpose organisation that offer mental health support services to young people across Western Australia. The Organisation is experiencing a period of growth and are looking for an experienced Youth Counsellor to join their Mandurah team on a full-time fixed-term contract to June 2025.
The role:
The Youth Counsellor will provide therapeutic counselling support to young people across the Mandurah community. The main responsibilities of the position include:
- Provide a hybrid office-based/outreach Counselling support service to young people and their families
- Assist the intake team in managing capacity, providing Intake and Assessment to clients in line with organisational processes
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the provision of health, mental health and psychosocial services to young people
- Maintain and work in partnership with a network of youth resources
- Administer psychometric testing where deemed as clinically appropriate
- Work in collaboration with internal and external services to ensure you are providing the most appropriate service to the client
- Assist with In-Kind services within reasonable notice - once a period of appropriate induction, training and support has been completed
- Administer clinical evaluation measurements, maintain accurate records, case notes and ensure client data system is up to date
- Ensure all operational processes and procedures are implemented correctly for the clinical services area
- Maintain professional standards of clinical care
- Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of the organisational program
- Attend/volunteer at community/organisation events when possible
What you'll need to succeed:
- 3 years of experience working with young people suffering from mental health issues
- Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health Nursing or equivalent
- Active registration with a relevant professional body - ACA, AASW, PACFA, AHPRA
- Experience conducting mental health risk assessments, developing safety plans to mitigate risk and scheduling follow up support and referral for treatment
- Significant experience in the application of evidence based clinical practices and processes appropriate to working with young people and families experiencing complex mental health issues
- Knowledge, skills and experience in implementing and evaluating group programs
- May occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours
- National Police Clearance/willing to obtain, C Class Drivers Licence, WWCC
