About the role

As a Youth Development Officer, you will play a pivotal role in driving strategic youth engagement, community development, and social impact objectives.

You will do this by working closely with community stakeholders, local high schools, and youth to support the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the Council's Youth Services, programs, and activities. 

This role will also involve the supervision of students and casual staff, volunteers, and young people in a range of environments. 

Requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work/Youth Development, Social Sciences, or related disciplines and demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people.
  • Excellent communication skills; both written including detailed report writing, and verbal with the ability to convey information to diverse audiences
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills to liaise and build relationships with a broad range of people
  • Be able to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to research, plan, and develop programs to address key issues impacting young people.
  • Current First Aid Certificate.
  • Current Class C driver’s license.
