As the Youth in Work Coach on our team, you will provide coaching and support to young people between the ages of 17-22 years with disability to help them achieve their employment goals. The Sticking Together Project has developed, in partnership with young people, an evidenced based coaching model that supports them to identify their barriers to employment, get a job and ‘stick at it’. This position will require to travel frequently to provide support to our young people in the Logan, Queensland area.
This is a 12 month full-time fixed-term contract role with the potential for extension.
In this role, you’ll be part of a supportive and result driven team who are dedicated to our vision of wellbeing, independence and opportunity for everyone. Day to day activities will include:
- Support young people with their employment and help them maintain their job if things get tough by building and developing great relationships with their employers.
- Work intensively with the Sticking Together Project’s Practice lead to ensure that the Sticking Together Project coaching model is implemented effectively.
- Work with employers to promote the benefits of hiring young people with disability
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders, in particular jobactive providers, to ensure continuous referrals to the Sticking Together Project.
As a Youth in Work Coach, you will be able to apply your exceptional relationship building skills to support youth in achieving goals through their employment journey. Ideally you have utilised a strengths-based approach to support young people to overcome barriers to employment or training. You will be able to offer appropriate advice and effective coaching on a one-to-one basis to build rapport and motivate young people with diability to reach their potential. Proven coaching or youth work abilities related to setting goals and actions that engage and lead to behaviour change. The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven experience in effectively engaging and working with disadvantaged young people
- Experience in successfully delivering both individual and targeted group programs for young people
- The ability to negotiate on behalf of young people with stakeholders, including employers and service providers.
- Proven experience working in partnerships with other support services
- Time management and organisational skills, able to plan, priorities and achieve outcomes with minimal supervision and/or direction and to successfully meet deadlines and KPI's
- Be willing to complete a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
- This position will operate as a primarily mobile role
- Must have a current and valid driver’s licence and your own registered vehicle with a 4-5 star ANCAP safety rating.
- Be eligible to work in Australia
- A tertiary qualification in a discipline relevant to disability, community services, youth work, employment services, training, or social services
