About the Position:
We are currently looking for a qualified librarian with excellent interpersonal and technical skills to undertake the role of temporary part-time Youth Services Librarian at Oakleigh Library.
Librarians at Monash Public Library Service are proactive, flexible and committed to providing high quality library & information services to the community. You will work at the library information desk, deliver programs and contribute to the maintenance and development of the library’s collections. As the senior person on duty, you will ensure our libraries are welcoming spaces and that community needs are responded to.
About you:
- Excellent communication skills when dealing with colleagues and customers
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts including evenings and weekends
- Sound skills in troubleshooting IT issues within a public library
- Lead the development and delivery of a range of programs that support the literacy needs of children aged 0-6 (and their caregivers) and youth of the Monash community in collaboration with Library Community Engagement Team Leader (Children and Youth) and the youth librarians’ team
- Professional collection management knowledge and awareness of collection management issues with regard to Children's and Youth Collections
- Ability to speak a language other than English is well regarded
Requirement of the position:
- Current tertiary qualification in Librarianship/Information Management and be eligible for ALIA membership;
- Employee Working with Children’s Check;
- Satisfactory National Police Check; and
- Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
