Part-time (34hrs p/fortnight) - Fixed-term position
About the role:
We are currently seeking a part-time Youth Support Worker to join our team in Emerald. The purpose of this position is to provide access and case management support to young people aged 12-21 (8-11 with restrictions) years of age who are at risk of disconnecting from their family or community. We are looking for someone with tertiary qualifications and experience in a discipline relating to the Behavioural Sciences or equivalent.
What would a typical day look like?
Supporting access to secure accommodation
Reducing harm - including substance abuse, risk-taking, self-harm/injury and suicide
Supporting Cultural connection
Participate in education, training and /or employment and other activities within their community
Connect with their family, culture and community
Divert young people away from criminal justice systems
Access opportunities that increase young people's ability to attain personal and aspirational goals
Work directly with young people and their families providing needs assessments, case management, coordination and referral, one-on-one support, information provision and skill development.
Improve the safety and well-being of children and young people in their home using prevention and early intervention strategies.
Mandatory Requirements:
Full COVID-19 Vaccination
Tertiary qualifications and experience in a discipline relating to the Behavioural Sciences or equivalent.
Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
Desirable:
Experience in a similar role.
