Headspace is a world-first youth mental health initiative that supports young people who are going through a tough time; whether it?s depression, anxiety, relationship break-ups or alcohol and other drug issues. The youth-friendly services at headspace are aimed at teenagers and young adults in recognition of the fact that 75 percent of mental disorders emerge before the age of 25 years.

The role:
We are looking for a dynamic and dedicated Youth Vocational Specialist to join our team full-time on a fixed-term basis. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) program within headspace Ballarat.
The Youth Vocational Specialist role requires intensive work with young people experiencing a range of mental health issues. This will involve assertive outreach work combined with excellent youth engagement skills to ensure young people are well supported and are linked to suitable employment opportunities.
Reporting to the headspace Ballarat Manager, this exciting role requires extensive knowledge and expertise in the career development or disability employment sector, with a demonstrated understanding of youth mental health.
What you'll do:
- Support young people: Work intensively with young people experiencing a range of mental health issues, providing them with the support and guidance they need to find suitable employment opportunities.
- Assertive outreach: Engage in proactive outreach to ensure young people are well-supported and connected to the resources they need.
- Vocational leadership: Provide leadership and expertise to clinical staff within Headspace Ballarat, helping to integrate vocational support with clinical care.
- Partnership development: Forge and maintain strong partnerships with employers, training providers, educational institutions, community service organisations, and other health professionals.
- Professional development: Present information at clinical meetings and deliver workshops to promote the vocational recovery program within and outside the service.
