Barnardos are looking for a full-timepermanent Youth Worker for the Child, Youth and Family Service based in Auburn, 2144
The Youth Worker will be responsible for;
- Provide case management support to young people who access our service.
- Monitor child protection concerns, consult, and act in accordance with the NSW Children and Young Person’s (Care and Protection) Act, Mandatory Reporter Guide and Barnardos Australia “Child safety and wellbeing” Policy.
- Assist clients who access the Youth Program with the provision of practical support; information/ advice; and or referral to internal or external services.
- Conduct initial assessment interviews with young people and their families.
- Prepare case plans and other relevant documents in collaboration the young people referred to our programs.
- Develop and facilitate workshops to children, young people, and parents.
- Facilitate Weekly Youth Drop-in.
About You
As a Youth Worker, you will ideally have;
- Tertiary degree level qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology, or related discipline.
- Strong understanding of care and protection legislation and practice regarding early intervention and prevention, and community development-based alternatives to supporting vulnerable families and preventing children entering OOHC.
- Capacity to identify and respond when the level of risk to a child or young person, requires statutory child protection intervention.
- 2 years’ experience working with young people and their family in a child protection context.
- Working knowledge of case management practices for working with young people and families who may be unwilling to engage with support services.
- Demonstrated experience in working with families with multiple, complex needs and that may be experiencing acute crisis.
- Demonstrated experience group work facilitation, educational workshops and managing group dynamics.

Salary: Base $71,136to $87,961 per annum plus leave loading plus superannuation. Packaging available to receive $15,860 of your salary tax free. Motor vehicle packaging available on selected roles.
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance and current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number) and for the ACT a Drivers History Check, Working with Vulnerable People Card and CYPS Check.
