About the role
This exciting opportunity is to assist children and young people in the community with 24/7 support care within and around the Logan area. You will be joining a dedicated team to assist our young people in achieving their goals and developing life skills. You will also act as a role model, providing support and encouragement during challenging times.
You will be helping to create a safe, stable, and consistent ‘home environment’, where our young people are able to live their best life every day.
A day in the life of a Youth Worker (Identified) includes;
- Supporting young people in building positive and independent everyday life skills,
- Organise meals, support with both personal and domestic duties
- Implement strategies that align with behaviour management plans,
- Administering medication,
- Active and wellbeing activities,
- Social engagement
- Provides and attend regular medical appointment as required,
- Attending regular development and training opportunities to stay updated, and
- Maintaining confidential records and documentation
What we are looking for;
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in residential youth work or disability support.
- Excellent written and verbal communicator,
- Team oriented with the ability to work autonomously,
- You love a challenge, are open minded, with high levels of empathy,
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and client needs with ease, and
- Maturity and resilience, and
- Extensive and diverse experience as a volunteer is highly recommended
To be considered, you will need;
- Blue Card for Working with Children (currently hold or be eligible to apply for),
- NDIS Worker Screening Card or Yellow Card (currently hold or be eligible to apply for),
- Certificate IV or above in a related discipline (or be studying towards),
- Current Police Check,
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate,
- Current Australian Driver’s license and insured car at your disposal,
- Completed Hope and Healing Framework (or ability to obtain),
- Smartphone with internet access, and
- Understanding, sensitivity and respect for Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities.
