Personalised support is provided to people living with disability, disadvantaged and vulnerable youth.

About the role

This exciting opportunity is to assist children and young people in the community with 24/7 support care within and around the Logan area. You will be joining a dedicated team to assist our young people in achieving their goals and developing life skills. You will also act as a role model, providing support and encouragement during challenging times. 

You will be helping to create a safe, stable, and consistent ‘home environment’, where our young people are able to live their best life every day.

A day in the life of a Youth Worker (Identified) includes;

• Supporting young people in building positive and independent everyday life skills,
• Organise meals, support with both personal and domestic duties 
• Implement strategies that align with behaviour management plans,
• Administering medication,
• Active and wellbeing activities, 
• Social engagement
• Provides and attend regular medical appointment as required,
• Attending regular development and training opportunities to stay updated, and 
• Maintaining confidential records and documentation 

What we are looking for;

• Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in residential youth work or disability support.
• Excellent written and verbal communicator,
• Team oriented with the ability to work autonomously, 
• You love a challenge, are open minded, with high levels of empathy,
• Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and client needs with ease, and
• Maturity and resilience, and
• Extensive and diverse experience as a volunteer is highly recommended

To be considered, you will need;

• Blue Card for Working with Children (currently hold or be eligible to apply for),
• NDIS Worker Screening Card or Yellow Card (currently hold or be eligible to apply for),
• Certificate IV or above in a related discipline (or be studying towards),
• Current Police Check,
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate, 
• Current Australian Driver’s license and insured car at your disposal, 
• Completed Hope and Healing Framework (or ability to obtain),
• Smartphone with internet access, and
• Understanding, sensitivity and respect for Aboriginal and/ or Torres Strait Islander cultures and communities.
