What does the role look like:
Providing care for a young person that is tailored to their needs and wants is one of the key parts of this role. To do this, you will be responsible for the young person's overall care and safety.
The key responsibilities of this are:
- Working towards making young people feel safe, respected, and cared for.
- Helping young people move forward in life on a positive and productive trajectory.
- Imparting positive life skills, healthy hygiene & eating habits.
- Day to day household duties.
- Taking young people to appointments
- Giving and recording medications.
Your experience & qualifications:
We’re looking for people who have a proven ability to motivate and communicate with a broad range of young people from challenging backgrounds. You’re positive, influential, have empathy, solutions focused, team oriented, and can self-manage. You adapt well to change, have experience with challenging behavior and have flexibility with your availability.
To be considered to proceed through the first stage of recruitment you must have:
- Full open availability to work a variety of shifts any day of the week and any time; including support casual shifts, day shifts, weekends and evenings.
- A current working with Children Blue Card
- A current Queensland drivers’ licence.
- Access to a roadworthy vehicle (seats minimum 4) with comprehensive insurance.
It would be helpful if you already have the below articles, however if not you will have a willingness to obtain them during the recruitment process:
- A Certificate 4 or above in Child Youth & Family Intervention (Residential Care) or similar field of study. If not help, you must be willing to enroll and participate in study.
- An ABN, or willingness to obtain one.
- Public Liability Insurance & Professional Indemnity Insurance, or willing to obtain.
- Willingness to undertake information sessions prior to the commencement of shifts.

The application process can take 7-10 days depending on the number of applications received. Recruitment is in a 3-stage process, and all stages and checks required by the industry can take between 4 & 12 weeks to complete.
