About the facility
Our major sites include University Hospital Geelong in Geelong's CBD, the McKellar Centre precinct in North Geelong, Barwon Health North in Norlane, and residential aged care facilities spanning the region. Comprehensive mental health, community health and dental services are delivered through various programs across the Barwon South West Region, including Torquay and Colac.

About the Role
Barwon Health runs a substantial Advanced Training Program for General and Acute Care Medicine Trainees. With links to the Western Victorian Regional Advanced Training Hub, recruitment is coordinated within the hub together with Grampians Health Ballarat and Southwest Health based in Warrnambool, we aim to be able to provide trainees with a training experience that will meet their personal preferences and RACP training requirements. At Barwon Health, trainees have access to 6-month core rotations in:
- Core General Medicine
- Core General Medicine Related
- SJOG Geelong
- Senior Medical Registrar
- Core subspecialty
- Intensive Care Unit (Acute)
- Respiratory (Acute)
- Cardiology (Acute)
- Gastroenterology
Core General Medicine and General Medicine related rotations include a range of subspecialty clinic opportunities including Dermatology and Heart Failure clinics. Other specialty clinics including gastroenterology, renal and respiratory clinics may be available by negotiation.
Trainees have opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in clinical governance and quality assurance activities, work closely with consultants taking on clinical lead roles with supervision. We also support trainees in their research and teaching interests having an affiliation with Deakin University, as well as providing teaching embedded within rotation units, with links to state-wide General Medicine Advanced Trainee education programs.
