Job description

The position will suit a collaborative ‘team player’ with Capital Works project management experience and a knowledge of procurement, construction management and building services.
Under the direction of the Capital Works Manager, the Capital Works Coordinator role will:

  • Deliver small to medium sized capital projects including property asset replacement and general building refurbishments demonstrating knowledge and experience in:
  1. Project governance, planning, reporting and delivery 
  2. Best practice procurement to align with NFSA’s policies and guidelines
  3. Contract administration including project budget management
  4. Risk planning and monitoring to comply with legislative requirements, Australian Standards, WHS policies and procedures
  5. Effective stakeholder engagement with diverse internal colleagues, external service providers and contractors.
  • Demonstrate effective generic skills to underpin the key duties outlined above including: 
  1. Effective time management to prioritise and manage workload with competing demands and tight deadlines.
  2. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  3. Identify and contribute to continuous improvement to work practices to improve efficiency
  4. Ability to proactively identify project issues and resolve complex problems 

Selection Criteria 

In relation to the ‘Job Details’ listed above, concisely demonstrate your skills, experience and achievements against each of the following areas:

  1. Demonstrated experience in managing Capital Works, asset replacement or construction projects, including development of project management and procurement documentation, coordination of schedules and resources, and interpreting contracts and specifications.  
  2. Knowledge of Australian Government procurement procedures and experience in preparing budgets and managing expenditure.
  3. Well-developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively liaise and negotiate with co-workers, contractors, suppliers and external organisations.
  4. Demonstrated ability to prioritise and manage project workload with competing demands and tight deadlines.
  5. A strong understanding and practice of Work Health and Safety issues identification and risk management related to buildings and facilities operations.

Request

  • Project management or construction qualifications would be highly regarded. 
  • Experience in capital works projects in public, cultural or collecting institution environments would be highly regarded.  

Other requirements include: 

  • The nature of this role requires you to be available outside standard work hours at times, to supervise out-of-hours works on site.  
  • Occasional interstate travel may also be required.
  • A current driver’s licence is essential.

Eligibility 
To be eligible for this position you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen;
  • Satisfactorily complete an Australian Federal Police National Police Check; and
  • Be able to obtain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.
