Job description:

Aboriginal Community Engagement and Culture Officer, Clerk Grade 5/6, Broken Hill Community Corrections

Salary: Clerk Grade 5/6 Salary ($93,295- $102,941) + Superannuation + Annual Leave Loading.

Position Type: Ongoing Permanent - Full Time: This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only.

You will receive extra recreation leave in addition to your usual entitlement, and you may also be eligible for one partially subsidised travel on recreation leave trip once every 12 months in addition to the Remote Area Allowance for living in Broken Hill.

As an Aboriginal Community Engagement and Culture Officer, you'll be at the forefront of transforming lives and fostering rehabilitation within the community. You will gain invaluable professional experience in working in the largest district in the state, undertake remote reporting across unique regions, and making connections with diverse Aboriginal communities. What we're looking for

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated individual to join our team as an Aboriginal Community Engagement and Culture Officer with Broken Hill Community Corrections.

What you'll do

As an Aboriginal Community Engagement and Culture Officer you will provide advice and support to Community Corrections in the case management of identified offender groups in a culturally sensitive manner and ensure appropriate case plans and supervision is implemented consistent with CSNSW mission of reduction of re-offending.

You will also identify and build collaborative community networks and partnerships to improve the effectiveness of community offender programs for identified offender groups.

Essential requirements

  • Within the recruitment process you will be required to show proof of Aboriginality - please see below for further clarification
  • Current and valid driving licence and willingness to travel within NSW
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal culture and history

There are two alternatives to confirming your Aboriginality, one of which must be uploaded to be considered for the role as follows.

Either will be accepted:

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality form

or

  • Written confirmation from 2-3 Aboriginal organisations within the community in which you live/work, which addresses the three criteria listed below:
  • is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
  • identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
  • is accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
