We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Engagement Officer to join our team in Dubbo, NSW. This is an Identified role working Full Time, 75 hours per fortnight, and will be permanent.
The role identifies, organises and coordinates opportunities to reach out to young people (12-25 years) and the communities that support them to provide health education, increase help seeking behaviour, raise mental health literacy and community awareness and link people to appropriate services.
Based in Dubbo, the role advocates our services across the communities of Nyngan, Warren, Condobolin, Coonamble, Gulargambone, Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Walgett and Collarenebri.
What would I need?
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, and connected to one of the YOP target communities
- Ability to engage and work collaboratively with a wide range of community stakeholders including Aboriginal Elders, families, ACCOs, ACCHOs, schools and community groups and organisations
- Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report on community-based projects and initiatives.
- Knowledge of issues affecting young people particularly relating to health, education, employment and social and emotional wellbeing, and the ability to engage and communicate with this demographic
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member
- Good computer skills with experience using the Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence and a willingness to travel for work purposes.
