This role will primarily work to address health care needs for Aboriginal peoples and their families residing in four remote communities within the Northern Territory. Some of your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Health Assessment: Conduct comprehensive health assessments for Aboriginal individuals, families, and communities to identify their healthcare needs and priorities.
- Cultural Competence: Provide culturally sensitive and appropriate healthcare services, acknowledging and respecting the cultural beliefs, values, and practices of Aboriginal peoples.
- Health Promotion and Education: Develop and deliver health promotion programs and educational initiatives tailored to the specific needs of Aboriginal communities, focusing on prevention, wellness, and health literacy.
- Advocacy: Advocate for the health rights and interests of Aboriginal peoples within healthcare systems and communities, addressing systemic barriers and inequalities.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, community organizations, and Aboriginal leaders to coordinate holistic and integrated healthcare services that meet the unique needs of Aboriginal populations.
- Current registration with AHPRA as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner
- Current NT Police Check & OCHRE Card
- Understanding of the Primary Health Care system and key issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Experience working with an Aboriginal organisation or communities will be highly regarded but is not essential.
- Demonstrated experience in Rural & Remote Healthcare.
