Role Details
The Department for Child Protection is currently seeking anAboriginalSanctuary Practitionerand a Sanctuary Practitioner to join theTherapeutic Residential Care unit on a full-time term basis.
The roles are responsible for:
- Ensuring that features of cultural safety and responsivity is integrated and embedded into the training and implementation of Sanctuary model into Residential Care.
- Contributing to the development of technical competence of Residential Care staff in relation to the Sanctuary model.
- Assisting Residential Care staff application of a cultural lens to their daily practice and in the development and implementation of departmental policies, programs and organisational activities at the local level.
- Providing professional guidance and direction on complex cases drawing on the principles and practice of Sanctuary.
- Preparing reports in relation to audits and quality improvement initiatives relating to the implementation of Sanctuary.

We are looking for a confident individual who has the ability todevelop and maintain strong working relationships with people bothwithin government, non-government sector and community.
The ideal candidate will have experience in providingprofessional advice on a wide range of residential care practicesto meet young people’s needs.
You will also have a demonstrated ability to analyse complexproblems, formulate suitable solutions and produce good outcomesfor clients.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications:
AHP: A degree level qualification in SocialWork which gives eligibility for full membership of the AustralianAssociation of Social Workers.
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in CommunityServices, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or relatedfield.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanderdescent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do nothave the essential qualification, may apply for and beengaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitledto apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring aqualification in Social Work within the Department for ChildProtection (DCP).
