The NWHHS Allied Health Services include Cardiac Scientists, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Speech and Hearing, and Podiatry with a visiting Orthotics service.
These professional teams provide a multidisciplinary approach to service delivery to the NWHHS, delivering Level 4 moderate complex inpatient, outpatient, and child development services within the Mount Isa Hospital. Furthermore, Allied Health Services work in partnership with external service providers to support clinical service delivery across the region. Most professional groups are actively engaged in student placements from universities throughout Queensland.
Fixed term temporary full time ASAP up to 30.06.2025
- An exciting opportunity exists within the NWHHS Allied Health Department for an Advanced Health worker to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and broader community to establish and build a cultural safe environment for First Nations woman.
- Work closely with a Women's Health Physiotherapist and maternity team to coordinate access for First Nations women returning to remote communities who require ongoing support from community allied health partners.
- Actively participate in strategic planning, quality health care and service development activities and work towards the vision of the North West Hospital and Health Service.

Base salary rates between $70,100 - $96,397 per annum + superannuation (HWF3)
- Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care is mandatory for appointment at the HW4 level.
- Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
- Travel to work at various facilities including remote sites within the NWHHS, by air or road travel, including day trips and/or extended trips over several days is a requirement of this role and a C Class Motor Vehicle Licence is required for operation of fleet vehicles.
- Pre-employment screening: working with children (Blue Card) and criminal history checks.
- This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
- A 3-month period of probation may apply.
