About us: Durban International College (DIC) is a leading Private institute of Vocational Education with campuses in Adelaide and Melbourne.
We provide ELICOS, Business, Construction and Hospitality programs, from Certificate to Advanced Diploma levels, to international students. DIC require head for the Language Centre that offers English language courses to help students improve their English skills and prepare them further study in Australia.
About the role: With a commitment to provide high quality educational programs with professional career outcomes and a strong and diverse group of learners and teachers, DIC offers an excellent opportunity for an Academic Manager – Language Programs to utilise their experience and expertise in an exciting learning and working environment. The Academic Manager – Language Programs is responsible for all activities of the DIC Language Centre. The position is responsible for the development of the ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students) programs (incorporating student induction), action plans, and effective implementation to support DIC’s strategic objectives. The position has responsibilities for further development and the delivery of enabling support programs for DIC students.
Education/Qualifications: A recognised degree or equivalent. TESOL qualification at postgraduate diploma level (i.e. level 8 or above on the Australian Qualifications Framework).
Knowledge/Experience/Attitude/Skills: Robust knowledge of and experience in Englishlanguage teaching. Knowledge of Work Integrated Learning theory and practice, including the principles of learning and teaching, and demonstrated ability to apply these to the development and delivery of workshops, programs, and resources. Demonstrated high level communication skills, including oral and written communication, interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated high level administrative and organisation skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team. Demonstrated high level information technology skills, including the capacity or willingness to engage with the development of materials and resources or the learning and teaching online environment, and understanding of social media and communication technologies. Appreciation of cultural awareness and issues relating to the diverse cultural background of the student body. Knowledge of the Australian education systems, including ESOS and other appropriate legislation pertaining to international students.
