AccountantPermanent, full-timeDarlinghurst, Sydney, NSWReporting to: Finance ManagerThe roleReporting to the Finance Manager, the Accountant will play a pivotal role in maintaining the financial integrity of the Institute. This hands-on position involves meticulous data input, month-end and year-end processes, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to decision-making processes, accurate budgeting, forecasting, and business case development. The Accountant provides critical support to the Finance Manager and the CFO, ensuring that the financial information for the Institute is captured and recorded accurately in a timely manner. In particular, the accountant will: Have oversight of the day-to-day finance function. Support delivery of high quality and timely financial reporting, budgeting, financial planning, financial data analysis and accounting advice to research and professional services staff to support and enable optimal decision making; Support the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer in ensuring that all financial compliance, regulatory, legal and reporting requirements for the Institute are fully satisfied; andWork with the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer in ensuring that the finance business partnering function is highly valued as a strategic partner to the Institute and retains an ongoing focus on quality, innovation and continuous improvement.What we will trust you withFinancial managementOversee daily, monthly, and annual processes, including general ledger activities, payables support, receivables, bank reconciliations, fixed assets registers, depreciation schedules, cash flow management, and preparation of various returns.Collaborate on month-end journals, investment reconciliation, foreign exchange updates, and business central user maintenance.Support Finance Manager and CFO in financial compliance, regulatory adherence, and reporting requirements.Provide high-quality financial reporting, budgeting, data analysis, and accounting advice to internal stakeholders.Grants administrationCollaborate with the Grants Department to maintain consistency between Grants Management System and Finance System.Invoice funding bodies, ensuring timely and accurate processing.Maintain precise financial information on grants, liaising with relevant departments.Develop a thorough understanding of the financial aspects of grants funding agreements.Does this sound like you?Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA/CA qualification preferred.Proven experience in financial management and accounting.Sound understanding of accounting and finance regulatory, compliance and reporting requirements.Experience using Microsoft Business Central or Jet Reports is highly regarded.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative, effective and outcomes-based working relationships with diverse teams and individuals.Familiarity with grants administration and compliance.Previous experience working with a Not-For-Profit organisation (desirable)About usThe Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (the Institute) is dedicated to finding cures for cardiovascular disease and is one of the most respected heart research facilities in the world.
