Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be an integral part of the Finance team based in our Sydney Port Botany Headquarters and will be responsible for supporting and partnering with the Qld (Brisbane) team.
The key responsibilities include: Act as the financial partner to the Brisbane Terminal team in the ongoing operations of the business unit. Assist on the financial aspects of Brisbane, covering all financial responsibilities for the BU and its owning entity. Assist with the financial aspects of the operational Terminal working with the local team to develop plans and strategies to drive the Terminal’s financial performance in line with the company’s business and growth directives. The key duties include:
- Assist in delivering the Group and local management reports and analyses for operations from monthly reporting, quarterly forecasts, and budgeting.
- Assist with ad hoc project analysis and evaluation and other operational reporting assignments for local management
- Supervisory billing and accounts receivable for the Terminal
- Entry of month end journals into the Oracle accounting system
- Manage depreciation schedules and their routine running for accounts
- Prepare bank reconciliations, revenue reconciliations and monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures
- Help prepare Financial Statements
- Provide support and effectively work with external auditors during year end audit at December
To thrive in this role, the following knowledge, skills, and experience will be necessary:
- CA / CPA Qualified or Part Qualified
- Prior experience in a similar wide ranging, business partnering role with exposure to detailed transaction level accounting through to management reporting
- Has worked with a large ERP system
- Competent using Microsoft Office with excellent Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Hard working and diligent with a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to build relationships both within the finance team as well as the wider business and external stakeholders with the purpose of business partnering with relevant parties
- Good team player with a proactive, enquiring, outgoing character
The following would be desirable:
- Previous exposure to specifically using Oracle ERP
- Possess experience in, or an interest in, Ports or Logistics
