We are seeking a suitably experienced Accountant to join our College Finance team on a full time, ongoing basis.
Reporting to the Finance Manager the Accountant will work on a wide range of accounting tasks. This dynamic finance role will focus on all areas of management and financial accounting and reporting. The incumbent will have a solid knowledge and understanding of accounts payable, GL reconciliations, general ledger management, receipting & payroll.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing General Ledger, including allocation of costs and receipts to appropriate Staff/Departments/Learning Areas
- Preparing monthly general ledger and weekly bank reconciliations
- Supporting the Accounts Payable function including supplier reconciliations and payments and acting as a back-up resource
- Supporting the Fees function including monthly reporting, receipting and debtor management and acting as a back-up resource
- Assist with ensuring Goods and Service Tax and Fringe Benefits Tax compliance
- Assisting with Payroll, Superannuation, leave and associated payroll requirements, including fortnightly payroll payments and monthly superannuation payments
- Business/Finance or relevant Qualification
- CA or CPA certification or in progress is desirable but not essential
- Experience using Synergetic (Advantageous)
- General financial knowledge
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use a variety of software programs
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong attention to detail and providing accurate data
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
