Reporting to the Finance Manager, key responsibility of this role is financial accounting including month end closing, internal reporting and statutory reporting. This role will suit someone with more than 3 years of experience in accounting for a mid to large size business with exposure to fixed asset, financial accounting, month end closing procedures, management accounting, balance sheet reconciliations and adherence to strict timelines. You will have a good understanding of financial accounting principles, internal controls and the ability to drill into the details without losing sight of the big picture. You will bring an energetic approach and positive attitude with a desire to make a valuable contribution to the accounting functions as well as our business by attending to your duties diligently, contributing to continuous improvements and assisting with our statutory reporting and compliance requirements.
Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Possess solid technical knowledge in fixed asset accounting; able to apply appropriate treatments on asset recognition, measurement, depreciation and disposal
- Responsible for accuracy of asset register and general ledgers, process asset capitalization and periodical depreciation in a timely manner
- Responsible for preparation of asset reconciliation and in compliance with internal control procedures
- Able to analyze depreciation movements and provide period end commentaries on fixed asset
- Preparation of periodical and quarterly fixed asset related report , updates and budget
- Document and maintain fixed asset policy and operational procedure in accordance with accounting standards and tax requirements for both AU and NZ
- Conduct fixed asset audit and maintain integrity of both accounting and tax fixed asset registers
- Able to provide advice on appropriate accounting treatment in regards to capitalization and operating expenses related
- Keep up to date with accounting standards, tax legislation relating to fixed asset
- Participate in system enhancement projects to improve internal controls and drive efficiency
- Ad-hoc duties as required
- Minimum 3 years relevant experience in a similar role of mid to large size organization
- Demonstrable experience in month end closing procedures
- Demonstrable experience in balance sheet reconciliations
- Good understanding of financial accounting principles, internal controls
- A problem solver with strong logical and analytical thinking
- Self-initiative, flexible, able to assist other team members
- Self-motivated, organized and able to work professionally and effectively in high pressure situations
- Ability to plan and prioritize in a fast paced environment
- Display a positive “can do” attitude
- Strong MS Excel skills
Education/Training: Tertiary education in Accounting
