About You:
We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our growing team. The role will oversee deliverables for a portfolio of not-for-profit clients, and will be onsite at The Breakthrough Office’s Central Coast location. As the Financial Accountant you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering month-end processes and reporting, overseeing and actioning client communications, and ensuring deadlines and deliverables for various other tasks are met.
You will be encouraged to develop strong working relationships with your clients, as you gain a full understanding of their organisation and provide them with an end-to-end accounting solution. We are passionate about our clients and the work they do, and are looking for someone that shares this passion.
This role requires a proactive, organised, hands-on Accountant who can develop excellent working relationships with staff and clients, to ensure our client engagement is maintained to a high standard. You will be expected to work collaboratively, have strong relationship building skills, and thrive on mentoring and developing juniors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the day-to-day delivery of services for your own portfolio of clients with a high focus on quality client experience.
- Management of workflow and delegation of work to appropriate staff, ensuring jobs are completed efficiently, meet technical standards, and are within deadlines.
- Management of emails in client inboxes ensuring all requests are actioned with speed, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Drive month-end reporting, management reporting, budgeting and forecasting, and other client deliverables across your portfolio.
- Client onboarding including setting up of Accounting systems and workflows.
- Overseeing Fringe Benefit Tax Returns.
- Preparing Audit Working Papers and Financial Statements.
- Overseeing end-to-end accounting services including bookkeeping services, payables, receivables, and payroll.
- Other ad-hoc tasks.
Skills & Experience
- CPA/CA qualified accountant.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public practice, ideally managing a portfolio of clients.
- Sound understanding of compliance for accounting and payroll specific to Not-for-Profits is beneficial for this role.
- Proficiency in Xero, Cloud-Based Software, Microsoft Excel and the Office 365 Suite
- Strong dashboard and forecasting experience preferred but not essential.
- This is a client facing role and therefore excellent communication and relationship building skills are required. A high level of empathy is required as well as the ability to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Must be able to work collaboratively and independently.
- Well organised, strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, and good time management.
- Previous experience in a not-for-profit would be beneficial, but not essential.
