Accounts Officer - Alice Springs

Your new company 
As a key member of the Finance Section team, contribute to the overall requirements of the Section in preparing reconciliations, processing payments to staff and external creditors, and carrying out other tasks consistent with the broad functions of the Section.
Your new role 
Financial Transactions:

Process EFTs, cheque payments, and reconcile vendor accounts.

Ensure accurate upload journals, EFT file creation, and credit card statement reconciliation.

Handle staff-related matters (e.g., travel requisitions, salary journals).

Team Support:

Assist colleagues in the Finance Section.

Manage general filing.

Collaboration:

Liaise with other operational sections within the organisation.

Foster positive relationships with constituents and relevant agencies.

Skills Development:Contribute to Aboriginal staff expertise.Other Responsibilities:Perform safe, legal, and responsible duties within your competence.                  What you'll need to succeed 

Interest in Learning Accounting Policies:Willingness to learn basic accounting policies and procedures.Attention to Detail:Accurate recording and inputting of data.Work Ethic and Time Management:Mature work ethic.Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.Communication Skills:Strong verbal and written communication.Confidence in drafting memos and correspondence.Effective negotiation and consultation abilities.Interpersonal Skills:The ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including Aboriginal people.Appropriate responses in various situations.Team Motivation:Enthusiasm to contribute as a team member in the Finance department.Physical Fitness:Adequate health and fitness for remote fieldwork (e.g., driving long distances, lifting to 20kg).Driving Licence and Vehicle Operation:Possession of a current NT driving licence.Competence in safely operating four-wheel drive vehicles in remote areas.Compliance Requirements:Eligibility for an Ochre Card from SafeNT.Willingness to undergo a National Police Certificate assessment if needed.
