About us:
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SA) Inc is a major international charitable and voluntary organisation that has been operating in South Australia since 1884. Our principal role is to provide for, or alleviate, the needs of disadvantaged people in the community.
Position Purpose:
The Accounts Officer is an essential support role within our Finance Team, contributing to the smooth financial operations of the Society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the finance team, you will contribute to the preparation of financial and management accounts.
- Managing the end-to-end process of Account Receivable, including issuing invoices, reconciling payments, monitoring outstanding balances, and identifying and resolving any discrepancies.
- Process bank account data within the general ledger and perform bank reconciliations in a timely manner.
- Processing, review, and reconciliation of petty cash and credit card transactions.
- Other general ledger imports and journal processing.
- Provide assistance and leave coverage for Accounts Payable and Donation processing.
The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Finance Operations.
What We’re Looking For:
We seek an individual with:
- At least 2 years’ demonstrated work experience in a similar role.
- Sound numeric skills and basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Accurate data entry skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience with a computerised accounting package.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
- Possess a sound knowledge of the Society, its services, and values.
- Knowledge and experience in working within not-for-profit and/or community service environments (desirable).
