Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately preparing, reconciling and executing the fortnightly payment of wages and salaries in accordance with the relevant authorities, award conditions, industrial instruments, Council Policies, Enterprise Agreement and relevant taxation legislation within specified timeframes.
- Undertake full responsibility for efficient and effective fortnightly payroll and End of Year Financial Year payroll processes
- Ensure compliance with the legislative and award requirements with regard to personnel issues and ensure confidentiality of accurate and appropriate personnel records.
- Undertake data analysis and reporting relating to payroll systems.
- Adequate maintenance of all salary and wage information, leave records and other associated records
- Provide specialised advice and information to staff in relation to Award Interpretation, payroll deductions, allowances, leave, superannuation and tax
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in applying industrial awards and legislation pertaining to local government.
- An extensive background in end-to-end autonomous payroll processing in a fast-paced environment
- Extensive knowledge of payroll system administration for medium sized organisations
- High level of computer literacy spreadsheets, word processing etc and databases
Skills and Attributes:
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation and awards
- Sound knowledge of general accounting functions and processes
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills
- High level problem solving and negotiation skills
