The Opportunity 

Based from our Ringwood office and reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a key role within the MEGT Finance Division.  The Accounts Payable Specialist will be responsible of all aspects of our company’s supplier invoices, seeking required approvals, timely and accurate processing of all invoices received for payment and to undertake the payment of all creditors in a timely manner. The focus of the role is to efficiently manage the end-to-end activities associated with the Accounts Payable function whilst providing a professional and specialised service to all stakeholders.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Manage Account Payable team
  • Analyse, prioritise, code, and process bills and invoices, ensuring vendor expectations are managed.
  • Manage timely payments for internal vouchers and expenses.
  • Maintain accurate records and control reports for accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors, suppliers, and employees, resolving discrepancies.
  • Manage the aging of the payable process.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming supplier invoices, ensuring compliance with policies before processing payments.
  • Ensure accurate expense allocation according to MEGT financial reporting.
  • Process all supplier invoices accurately and timely.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices in line with commercial terms using MEGT's banking platform.
  • Continuously review procedures to maintain best practices and keep AP processes up to date.
  • Perform delegated tasks from the Financial Controller or Senior Financial Accountant.
  • Review and approve employee expense reimbursements.
  • Reconcile creditor statements and settle disputes with suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers on behalf of the Finance Department.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests.

About you 

This role involves collaborating with the Finance team, providing guidance to administration staff, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. You will  have a strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement will be essential to your success, including:

  • Experience in managing an Accounts Payable Team 
  • Minimum 5 years experiencing managing the end-to-end Accounts Payable function (preferably in a large organisation) 
  • Experience in implementing and utilising Purchase Order systems.  
  • Spearhead a paperless invoice-processing environment 
  • Ability to work as part of a team and within a large organisation is highly desirable. 
  • Good numeracy attention to detail and accuracy skills 
  • Practical knowledge of the requirements of the GST legislation. 
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of and experience in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel (preferably Advanced Excel skills) and ERPs. 
  • Ability to deal with pressure and meeting deadlines  
  • Passion for continuous improvement and learning to adapt to changing business conditions or situations  
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that facilitate effective and professional communication with persons from varied backgrounds. 
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload including the ability to manage conflicting work demands. 
  • Capacity to work independently with limited supervision.
