The opportunity Reporting to the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellbeing Services, this full-time position will be responsible for providing evidence-based services to veterans and their families, helping to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. Providing management techniques and treatment for injuries and chronic pain, you will enjoy a varied workload including the provision of personal training sessions to both groups and individuals. You will work with a progressive and motivated team in a supportive environment to fulfill responsibilities including: Conducting intake activities for clients, including undertaking pre-exercise screenings to gauge physical obstacles and mobility. Working closely with the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellbeing to design, evaluate and implement tailored evidence-based exercise programs for clients to support positive outcomes based on the scope of your qualifications. Taking a lead role in coordinating communications with the relevant referral agencies or clinicians, including referrals for clinical interventions where needed. Providing diligent supervision of gym facilities, including observing client use of facilities, technique correction, keeping equipment clean, tidy, and well-maintained, and being available for client inquiries or assistance related to physical exercise and the equipment. Providing health, physical activity and exercise education, advice and support, in both individual and group settings. Designing and delivering beneficial exercise sessions developed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages and fitness levels, including instructing and demonstrating in a group setting, with oversight and guidance from the Clinical Lead – Physical Rehabilitation & Wellness. Maintaining currency of contemporary practices within professional field to support delivery of relevant physical wellbeing services. About you We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing support for a range of physical health and mobility concerns while working closely with community members. Holding a relevant qualification in fitness (minimum Certificate IV in Fitness) or a Bachelor of Exercise Science, as well as registration with Ausactive as an exercise professional or with ESSA as an Accredited Exercise Scientist and a Working With Children Check (valid to your State), the successful applicant will have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with both clients and colleagues, and well-developed oral and written communication skills to benefit client support and management. Candidates with the following skillsets and experience are encouraged to apply: Experience in working with clients with musculoskeletal conditions, mental health concerns, and to help manage chronic disease and pain. Developed computer proficiency, including a demonstrated ability to use client information management systems for accountability and proficient record keeping. Possesses a current driver’s license, First Aid and CPR certification, and Ochre card. The ability to work and communicate professionally and respectfully within a multidisciplinary team, while also thriving in an independent work environment where necessary. A clear and concise understanding of, and adherence to, the scope of practice for an exercise professional. While not a requirement, direct experience in delivering services to current or ex-serving Defence personnel and their families is also advantageous for this role.
