The Administration Officer- Governance role is essential to support the peak decision-making bodies and election processes of the Queensland Teachers Union.
The role is full-time and a combination of a permanent and fixed-term appointment (with the possibility for the fixed-term appointment to become permanent).
- Provide broad governance administration support
- 0.6 FTE Permanent – 42 hrs/fortnight/Wed-Fri
- 0.4 FTE Fixed-term – 28 hrs/fortnight/Mon-Tue- ASAP to 4 October 2024, with the possibility to become permanent
- $40+/hr + super + benefits + free onsite gym
- 9 day fortnight (RDO) available

About the Opportunity
The QTU is seeking an Administration Officer with the ability to maintain confidentiality and have a strong attention to detail to join our team in supporting several internal governance committees and processes. The fixed-term allocation of this role may become permanent.
Key duties include:
- Provide efficient, effective and confidential administrative support for Union position holders via email and phone.
- Update CRM (Pivotal) information systems with accurate data.
- Processing nominations in line with the QTU Constitution and Rules and QTU Policy.
- Providing administrative support and all duties associated with supporting the decision-making bodies of the QTU and Union elections.
- Assist in preparation for Council and Conference meetings/functions.
- Process outbound mail and printing requests.
- Document records management in line with QTU policies (using Cia by Technology1).
About You
To be successful in this position you will have:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an office administration role.
- Experience within a governance framework is highly desirable but not essential.
- Customer-centric orientated, prioritising providing a positive experience and building long-term professional relationships.
- A high level of written and verbal communication skills to engage with Union members and internal staff across Queensland professionally.
- Strong organisational skills to successfully manage competing priorities to achieve deadlines.
- Proficiency in programs such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- The ability to work up to 4 Saturdays a year for QTU Council meetings.
- Team player with a positive attitude and integrity.
- Experience in a Union environment is not essential.

The Union is now the professional and industrial voice for members including teachers, principals and TAFE educators in Queensland state primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, TAFE institutes and other educational facilities.
