The Jaghu Maternal and Infant Program provides a culturally safe and responsive model of care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, their families and the community. The program provides continuity of care from conception until baby is around 2 years of age and includes care by a Midwife, Child Health Nurse, Aboriginal health Worker, Social and Emotional Wellbeing Officer and Social Worker, depending on the individual needs of the woman and her family.

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to provide a high level of administration support and customer service to units within the Jaghu Program, including efficient utilisation of appointment times for consultants and clinicians.

You will respond to general client enquiries via phone, email and in person. Assist staff and clients in the work unit as requested. Register patient data onto relevant electronic databases and ensure patient data is updated in a timely and accurate manner.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in similar roles.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (including patients, carers and communities) within a health-related context and having a clear understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and protocols.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, problem solving, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate activities in a team environment to meet deadlines, and to be flexible in a changing work environment.
  • Ability in the use of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to acquire knowledge of relevant software packages (e.g. ieMR, Medi Records, ESM, HBCIS, Referrals Workflow).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community
