What we're looking for
A talented Administration Support Officer to join our dynamic team, based in our Canberra National Office, for a 3 day per week permanent part-time position. A competitive remuneration package is on offer to the right candidate, plus significant tax benefits to maximise your income.
We want someone who is a problem solver, has considered ideas and opinions, and isn't afraid to share them. We need someone who is flexible, and who can work autonomously, and go with the flow when priorities change. Most importantly, we need someone who can take ownership of our membership database to support our customers and volunteers.
What you'll be doing
You will be tasked with assisting our Manager – Executive and Priory to perform the important administrative functions that keep our office humming. One day you may be performing data entry or answering phones, the next making travel arrangements, and providing logistical support for an event.
In addition to:
- Greeting and attending to visitors when required
- Maintain and improve administrative systems
- Design and review collateral in support of programs and events
- General office duties to support the day-to-day running of the Australian Office
What you'll need
- Ability to provide effective administrative support in a timely manner.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Comfort working with database software.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to promote good relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders and excellent customer service.
- The ability to participate effectively as a member of a small office team, where initiative, flexibility and responsiveness are requirements.
- Proofreading and design skills would be an advantage
- Proficiency with design software, Adobe, InDesign, Canva or similar would be desirable.
- Organisational skills—ability to ‘get things done’ in accordance with timeframes.
- Self-motivation with a proactive attitude and approach to work and providing solutions.
- A desire to have a hugely positive impact on St John's business and charitable activities.
- Openness to constructive criticism of your work.

Special Conditions
- Applicants must have the right to work in Australia as a citizen or with full unrestricted work permit or visa.
- A National Police Check is required to be obtained upon appointment to the role and every three years thereafter.
- Appointment to this position is subject to maintaining a valid Working with Children Check
