About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for an Adoptions Case Manager to join our team. The Adoptions Case Managers roles provides support, advice, and knowledge to the broader team within Family Spirit.


You will be responsible for:


• Assisting with the facilitation of permanency pathways from out-of-homecare which includes adoptions and guardianship
• Assisting with providing direct support to parents pursuing adoption (birth families and prospective adoptive parents) and post adoption support
• Assessment and training of prospective adoptive parents, guardianship, local adoptive carers and dually authorised carers
• Provide casework support and advice to the broader team which is informed by relevant Adoption legislation and regulations
• Reviewing and accessing historical records, liaising with parties requesting this information, in line with policies and procedures
• Fostering and maintaining positive working relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external)


About you


To be a successful candidate, you will have:


• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline such as Social Work, Psychology or Family Therapy 
• On the Register of Counsellors as per the Adoption Act 2000, or willing to be
• Strong knowledge of relevant legal Acts, Legislation, Regulations and Standards in Child Protection and Adoption
• Qualified to provide Shared Stories, Shared Lives (or willingness to undergo training) 
• Willingness to completed Step By Step Accreditation within 12 months 
• Demonstrated experience with PSP program or Adoption
• Conflict resolution and mediation skills and highly developed interpersonal skills
• Sound computer literacy skills
• Current Working with Children Check clearance and Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)
• Current and valid driver’s licence and access to a well-maintained vehicle which will be used for work purposes
