Job description

Mercury Colleges offers a wide range of VET courses that provide students with the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enter the workforce. Mercury Colleges understand the specific skills employers expect from their staff to have successfully acquired during their studies.

We are currently seeking passionate and highly motivated Trainers to join our growing team in Sydney Campus

  • Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management
  • Advanced Diploma of Marketing & Communications
  • Certificate IV in Ageing Support

 Training is classroom based incorporating workplace activities. The trainer will also mark the assessments and provide feedback to students while support them to progress in their studies. Successful applicants will also be required to visit the student's workplace whilst students are on work placement.

The Role

The role requires you to:

  • Provide support and feedback to ensure successful completion of programs
  • Monitor, mark and conduct student assessments
  • Plan, review and improve training and assessment
  • Participate in assessment validation, moderation and continuous improvement
  • Conduct workplace visits whilst the students are on placement

Trainers and Assessors must have the following key selection criteria:

  • A strong passion for the VET sector including current experience in the sector or evidence of recent professional development
  • Keen interest in teaching others about the Community Services and Health Industries and Management & Leadership
  • Confidence and motivation to deliver first class face to face 
  • Sensitivity and ability to adapt teaching styles to students of different cultural backgrounds
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and multi-tasking abilities
  • A high level of attention to quality and detail
  • Commitment, flexibility, initiative and the ability to work as part of a growing team
  • Continuing professional development requirements of the professional body to which they belong
  • A relevant qualification at the Diploma or degree level
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent or higher.
  • Language, Literacy and Numeracy level which is appropriate to teach others

Experience:

  • teaching or lecturing or training: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Aged Care sector w/n the community service & health industry: 2 years (Preferred)

Education:

Trainers need to demonstrate compliance with Clauses 1.13 – 1.24 of the Standards for RTO’s 2015 and to establish that Trainer Assessors have:

  • Vocational competencies at least to the level being delivered and assessed
  • Current industry skills directly relevant to training/assessment being provided
  • A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or a qualification in adult education at a diploma or higher level

 Licence:

  • Cert IV in training and assessment 40116 or equivalent
  • Current Police Check (Preferred)

Work Eligibility:

  • The candidate can work permanently with no restriction on hours (Preferred).
