Exciting New Role- Temporary, Full-time, Herston | Provide advanced leadership for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of complex preventive health policy and strategy to improve the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders
The role
The role involves adhering to defined service quality standards and health and safety policies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe services and workplaces. You will provide high-level expertise in the application of evidence, theory, and judgment in planning, implementing, and evaluating preventive health policies and interventions across various settings. Your role includes offering authoritative advice to senior management, partners, and other stakeholders, including the public, to influence strategic policy and deliver complex and innovative preventive health interventions. Demonstrating competencies and qualities of a successful supervisor and leader, you will manage change, build team capacity and capability, improve performance, and enhance the quality of the work environment.
Additionally, you will facilitate the development of system reforms to help Queensland Health effectively respond to the increasing burden of chronic disease, contributing to considerations by the Queensland Government. Your high-level expertise will guide the processes of strategy development, policy development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. You will analyse and convey complex ideas and information to a diverse range of stakeholders in relation to preventive health policy and reform. Leading collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, including national partners, you will build preventive health capacity and improve policy and intervention delivery. Strategic monitoring of preventive health initiatives, objectives, and strategies based on data analysis will ensure findings are shared to enhance the evidence base and improve preventive health policy and planning.
The successful person
The ideal candidate must possess at least a tertiary degree in Health Promotion, Public Health, Human Nutrition Science, and/or Dietetics. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualifications and, if applicable, registration or membership with the relevant registration authority or association. Certified copies of these documents must be submitted to the designated supervisor or manager before beginning duties. The candidate must also demonstrate the ability to apply specialized knowledge, analytical skills, and expertise to develop systemic and effective solutions to complex preventive health policy challenges.
Furthermore, the candidate must have proven ability to lead strategic change through effective communication, consultation, and negotiation skills, as well as through shaping policy reforms, driving innovation, and enabling quality improvement. Flexibility in approach to work and the work environment, along with a willingness to participate in cross-program initiatives, is also required.
