Status: Full Time Permanent
Salary: $59,044 - $70,853 p.a. + 11% superannuation contribution

About Us
Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the Opportunity
The Health Promotion Officer works as part of a multidisciplinary team to participate and support the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of Health Promotion initiatives that address health priority issues in Cape York communities.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Enrolled in and working towards completion of a recognised health professional qualification in Health Promotion or equivalent with a major in Health Promotion
- Experience in delivering Health Promotion activities to local communities
- Demonstrated understanding of Health Promotion and population health
approaches, principles, frameworks, and theories relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Cape York - Proactive, energetic, with a growth mindset in looking for opportunities and improvements for activity and program delivery
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people and their communities, particularly in Cape York
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with community protocols and customs
- Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
