About Us:

Bidgerdii Community Health Service is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community controlled primary health care service, operating in the Rockhampton and Central Queensland region for close to 30 years. The organisation is a bulk billing community-controlled health service, managed by a Board of Directors who oversee and manage the strategic directions of the service.

Bidgerdii provides comprehensive primary health and well-being services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Rockhampton and surrounding regions. Bidgerdii collaborates with health and well-being partner agencies to enable integrated continuity of care for the community and continue to work to contribute to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy and program reform in Queensland.

About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and motivated individual to join our team as a Health Promotion Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing Health Promotion programs to improve the overall well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. In this role you will plan, implement and evaluate Health Promotion initiatives for the community.

You will work with the team to ensure strategic alignment of programs and ensure practice is underpinned by sound population health and Health Promotion principles and priorities, in order to have the greatest impact on the health of the community. Part of the role you will conduct research on current health issues and trends, evaluate the effectiveness of Health Promotion initiatives and also provide education and resources on various health topics

This role forms part of the corporate team, reports to the Marketing Officer and has no direct reports.

About You:

You will have a minimum Cert III in a relevant discipline such as Health Promotion, public health or aboriginal health worker, have demonstrated ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team with a well-developed computer knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office suite.

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with people from diverse backgrounds including internal and external stakeholders and community members.

Practical Requirements:

  • Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD) – essential
  • Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
