Use your criminal law or advocacy background to contribute to a bigger purpose by representing and supporting victims of sexual assault

Your New Organisation
One of the State's largest community legal organisations is participating in a pilot program supporting women on temporary visas who are experiencing domestic and family violence. Through this new program, you will be involved in the provision of immigration legal support to those eligible women.
Your New Role
The Counselling Notes Protect team represent and work on behalf of victims of sexual assault in relation to applications for parties to access and use their counselling records in legal proceedings.
In this role some of your day to day responsible will include:
  • representing victims of sexual assault including providing advice, file management and advocacy in criminal law matters in Magistrates, District and Supreme Court;
  • Provide services to women in a trauma informed practice framework;
  • Liaise with external agencies and make client referrals where appropriate

Your Skills Profile
  • At least 3 years criminal law or advocacy experience (experience in family law and domestic violence, child protection and child support are desirable)
    advocacy.
  • Detailed knowledge of the practice and procedure of the law as it relates to victims of crime, particularly in relation to issues of sexual violence, and criminal law.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work sensitively with clients from diverse backgrounds;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and well-developed relationship management skills.
