About the Role:
The Aboriginal Services Engagement Officer will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to provide advice in the implementation of strategies identified in the Department of Education’s Aboriginal Strategy that support the attendance, social and emotional wellbeing, engagement and participation in learning of Aboriginal children, young people and their families/carers.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with schools, preschools, and Student Support Services to implement proactive education initiatives fostering inclusion, learner engagement, social and emotional wellbeing, and participation of Aboriginal children, young people, and families/carers.
  • Provide guidance to site-based officers, leaders, and mentors for effective intervention and communication regarding patterns of non-attendance.
  • Ensure equitable access to services and support for Aboriginal students, addressing specific needs identified in their one plan by developing attendance strategies in partnership with families/carers and communities.
  • Participate in case conferencing and liaising with government and non-government service providers to support early intervention and Student Support Services referrals.
  • Contribute to evaluating and reporting on program outcomes and service delivery effectiveness for Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Coordinate team efforts to address issues and provide tailored initiatives for Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Advocate for and commit to a shared vision aimed at improving educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people, promoting family and community involvement in decision-making structures.
Qualifications:
  • Essential a certificate 4 or higher education qualification in education, human/community services, or equivalent experience.
Special Conditions:
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

Remuneration:
AEW4: $86,473 - $91,564 per annum (1.0 FTE), plus superannuation.
