This is a full-time role based in Darwin, NT. As an Aged or Disabled Carer, your key responsibilities will encompass:
Providing support to elderly and disabled individuals during their daily activities.
Assisting clients in improving their mobility.
Cooking and preparing meals for clients.
Organising social activities for individuals under care.
Performing housekeeping duties, including vacuuming and cleaning.
Assisting with personal hygiene and dressing.
Offering companionship, friendship, and emotional support.
Potentially handling shopping and running errands for clients.
In some cases, residing with the person being cared for.
Selection Criterion:
1. Empathy and Compassion:
Demonstrate a genuine capacity for empathy and compassion towards aged and disabled individuals.
Exhibit a caring and understanding attitude when providing emotional support.
2. Communication Skills:
Possess effective communication skills to interact with clients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
Clearly convey information and instructions, ensuring comprehension by all parties involved.
3. Practical Assistance Skills:
Showcase proficiency in practical tasks such as accompanying individuals during daily activities, assisting with mobility, and performing housekeeping duties.
4. Nutritional and Culinary Abilities:
Demonstrate the ability to prepare nutritious meals and accommodate dietary requirements for clients.
5. Organisational Skills:
Exhibit strong organisational skills to arrange social activities and manage daily tasks efficiently.
6. Personal Care Proficiency:
Display competence in assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, and maintaining the overall well-being of clients.
7. Companionship and Relationship Building:
Illustrate the capability to build positive relationships, provide companionship, and foster a sense of friendship with those under care.
8. Flexibility and Adaptability:
Demonstrate flexibility in handling diverse tasks, including shopping, running errands, and potentially living with the person being cared for.
Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
