Disability Support Workers - Nhulunbuy

Job description
Carers NT are seeking Disability Support Workers in Nhulunbuy who are positive, innovative and focused on enhancing the quality of life for individuals. This role will support our participants in a culturally appropriate manner and allow our participants choice and control.
Your tasks will include:

• Providing the very best support to our participants consistent with their support plans and NDIS goals.
• Undertaking personal care duties, which may include showering and personal hygiene.
• Providing support to complete household duties which may include cleaning, laundry and support with meal preparation.
• Providing support for participants to access social and community activities which may include shopping, transport and community activities.

Successful applicants will:

• Engage with participants to support achievement and encourage further independence.
• Have the ability to build rapport and engage with our participants.
• Have good interpersonal skills with the ability to show empathy and care to our participants.
• Be physically fit as the role may include lifting, bending and the use of lifting aids.
• Be motivated, self-aware and confident in the role of a Support Worker.
• Be resilient and able to overcome adversity.
• Have the ability to follow organisational processes and procedures.

As part of your role it is essential that you have the ability to meet all mandatory compliance requirements in line with Carers NT policies and procedures, this includes:

• Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card)
• Police Check issued within the last 6 months
• Evidence of Australia work rights (current passport or birth certificate)
• First Aid and CPR
• NT driver's license
