About the Role:
Botanical Resources Australia (BRA) are searching for an Agronomist/Field Officer to join their team on a permanent full-time basis. Due to the depth of knowledge and experience in the existing Field Operations team, both experienced and graduate candidates are encouraged to apply for this role.
Operating in Tasmania for over 25 years, BRA is the global leader in the production of the natural insecticide active ingredient, pyrethrin, extracted from Australian grown pyrethrum daisies. Part of the Sumitomo Chemical Group based in Japan, BRA is renowned for its success, innovation, positive work culture and an environmentally conscious approach to both agribusiness and manufacturing.
Reporting to the Pyrethrum Production Manager, this full-time role will be based at BRA’s purpose-built facility in Ulverstone, managing sites in the Central Coast and Hagley areas. This position will provide the successful applicant with an outstanding working culture as part of a supportive, friendly team.
Key Responsibilities:
The primary function of the role is to manage the crop with growers from sowing right through to harvest, which includes coordinating soil preparation, sowing, agronomy, managing crop husbandry requirements and harvesting activities. This position also involves liaising with contractor growers and external contractors for sowing and harvesting, as well as data management and maintaining accurate crop records.

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
- Tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science or similar (advantageous)
- Able to demonstrate experience managing relationships with farmers, in either a commercial or technical based role, ideally with an agronomic focus
- Ability to evaluate agronomic based production data
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with farmers, contractors, BRA agronomists, and other staff
- Flexible mind-set with the ability to innovate and adapt to the unexpected
- Enthusiasm for problem solving and the ability to collaborate with others to effectively respond to issues as they arise
- Driver’s licence
