The Town of Port Hedland entered into a historic deal with AMP Capital now Dexus and Infrastructure Capital Group (ICG) now Foresight Group for a long-term 50-year lease of Port Hedland International Airport (PHIA) on the 11 March 2016.
As Australian and International investors, the Dexus and Foresight consortiums are committed to working with our community to improve and enhance the airport, deliver a high-quality asset, and provide the best level of customer service possible.
PHIA is the only International Airport in the Pilbara serving more than 500,000 passengers per year and a direct link to the world's largest iron ore export port and proximity to major oil and gas fields.
Our vision is to be “The leading regional Airport in Australia supporting the resources sector, with direct national and international access to key destinations whilst exceeding expectations in economic and environmental sustainability”.
PHIA is home to domestic and international freight with oversize aircraft capability (Antonov-124), Borderforce and Biosecurity operations, refueling, aviation firefighting, transient worker accommodation, a bulk transport precinct, Port Hedland School of the Air and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
PHIA is working hard to deliver a revitalised regional airport which makes the Port Hedland community proud and has the ongoing capacity to service mining interests and diverse opportunities including tourism in the region whilst maintaining its safety and security standards and offering enhanced customer experiences.
About the role
The purpose of this FIFO Perth/Western Australia based only - 8 day on 6 day off or residential Port Hedland based role 4 days on 3 days off is to ensure PHIA meets all its regulatory requirements by the efficient implementation of our operational policies and procedures.
The successful candidate would actively monitor airside safety functions to ensure compliance, and conformance with operational policies and procedures whilst delivering a superior customer experience.
Key duties include but are not limited to Runway and Taxiway Inspections, Wildlife Hazard Management, Airside Works Support and Airside Reporting duties. This role will also work landside and have involvement and exposure to all facets of the airports operations, in a Regional Airport environment.
Selection Criteria
- A qualified ARO/WSO with a minimum of 2 years' airport experience at a regional airport.
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task; plan ahead, prioritise and to organise and monitor activities and projects.
- Well-developed influencing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivation and driven to set goals and achieve them.
- Demonstrated IT literacy with the ability to adapt to change.
- Demonstrated understanding of WHS principles and processes.
- Hold and maintain a current valid Driver's Licence for the vehicle(s) used at PHIA.
- Be willing to undergo pre-employment medical and/or drug and alcohol screening.
- Must be able to undertake and pass random drug and alcohol testing.
- Ability to obtain and retain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
- Ability to obtain an Airside Drivers Authority for PHIA.
- Hold an Aviation Radiotelephone Operator Certificate of Competency.
