ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is a 12-month paid work and study role within the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) team with a focus on creating relationships within the service system network in our region and to connect to further study or ongoing employment within the sector at the end of the traineeship period where applicable.

This role has been designed to launch a current student or recent graduate into a fulfilling career within the AOD sector. It will assist a Trainee to learn every part of the AOD landscape and work with a range of different clients, from young people to adults and family groups at various stages of their treatment journey.

The role is full time and will allow a Trainee to attend current study commitments during work hours or undertake further training in the AOD area while earning a full-time wage. When not attending class, the Trainee will be immersed into our AOD teams to build an understanding of contemporary AOD practice and to develop the skills required to work in this sector such as intake, assessment, counselling, case management and group work to name a few.

At the completion of the Traineeship the trainee will be expected to have achieved a Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (CHC43215) or other dependent on existing qualifications and skill level.

The trainee cannot have previous employment history in the AOD. Please note that this does not include volunteers or students who have done placements in AOD.

ABOUT YOU

Seeking an enthusiastic and passionate person to take on a 12-month Alcohol and Other Drugs Traineeship! If you are willing to complete Certificate IV and or further study in Alcohol and Other Drugs within the 12-month period and have

  • An interest in developing a career within the Community Services Sector
  • Evidence of written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in the use of IT systems to complete daily work tasks.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
